The Fairness for All Families
On Sat 6/9/07 PFLAG
representatives spoke to the board of Florida Association of Social
Workers (FASW) to encourage them to join the
coalition to oppose the Florida marriage amendment. The
amendment as it is written will take away all domestic partnership
benefits, gay or straight, for retirees, etc. for all govt. entities in
Florida and many others. Very critical for healthcare, etc

We need your help to show a record number of Floridians
standing up to discrimination by opposing the so-called
"marriage amendment." This initiative would permanently ban
marriage and civil unions for same sex partners in Florida,
and threatens domestic partnership protections that seniors,
fire fighters, teachers and police officers already rely
upon.
As we head into the first major financial reporting deadline
of the Fairness for All Families Campaign, we're asking you
to be a part of making history on June 30th.
Contribute now.
It's not about how much you can give, but how many
can give.
Sometime in early July, headlines across the state will
either read, "Historic Number of Floridians Firmly Opposed
to Discrimination," or they will say, "Opposition to
Marriage Amendment Appears Weak."
You can help decide which headline gets reported.
Your contribution today will let all of Florida know that
opposition to the amendment is strong. We're asking
our supporters to commemorate the 2008 Election by
contributing $20.08 today.
Just last week, newspapers in Michigan reported on the
impact of that state's so-called marriage amendment:
The City of Kalamazoo no longer
will offer health insurance benefits to the partners of gay
workers, becoming Michigan's first public employer
to take away existing benefits in the wake of a
2004 ban against gay marriage. (Associated Press)
It is clear that Florida's proposed amendment threatens the
legal protections and benefits of families across our state
and, with your help, the Fairness for All Families campaign
will ensure this attack on Florida families doesn't become
part of our constitution.
If $20.08 is just more than you can do right now, please
contribute $11.04 to commemorate Election Day, November 4th
(11/04). Any amount you can give will help publicly increase
our numbers and ensure the headlines report our strong
opposition.
Contribute now.
With sincere thanks,
Damien Filer,
Campaign Manager
