You are invited to participate
in the 14th annual “Building a Safe and Drug Free Community Day.” This
year’s event is truly going to be a great one! We have spiced up our program
and have centralized the event by partnering with the Orlando Fashion Square
who will be hosting the event. We believe these changes will promote more
excitement and participation by parents, students, agencies, and community
members. We hope you will sincerely consider our invitation to be a part of
the day. The 2006 “Building a Safe and Drug Free Community Day” is being
sponsored by Orange County Public Schools’ SAFE Program, the SpeakOut
Hotline, and the Orlando Fashion Square. The annual event brings awareness
to the Orlando community about promoting non-violence and showcasing
agencies that provide services that help prevent violence and drug use.
“Building a Safe and Drug Free
Community Day” will take place at the Orlando Fashion Square in the Sears’
court on Saturday, April 1, 2006. One opportunity for agencies to become
involved is to set up displays at exhibition tables showcasing agency
services. We are asking that each participating agency have at their booth a
creative interactive activity such as face painting, live characters,
drawings, or games. These activities must be for all ages and continue
throughout the event. Set up time is at 9:00 am. The opening ceremonies will
take place from 11:00 am to 11:45 am. There will be student and community
performances throughout the day until 4:00 pm, including a Step and Dance
Team Showcase. Each step or dance team will develop their routine based on
an anti-drug and/or anti-violence message.
